That's pretty straightforward. It gets more complicated when you move into the 60x0 and 7x00 generation of equipment, since there's also a form of proxy built right into the modem. So as far as a 3rd party direct replacement, I'd say the odds are slim. It might help if you read http://www.astracom.cz/DataSheets/Products/WirelessSystems/SatelliteInternetAccess/hpep.pdf, then maybe it might trigger your memory about some comparable product you may have seen in your travels.

I had pinned my hopes on WildBlue for a while, but their initial outing has turned out to be disappointing. Installers aren't jumping on their bandwagon around here either. Gave some thought to the HN7000-S more recently, but that too is starting to sound like more of the same. Am now starting to look at companies that build to spec, with connectivity and " support " from/through someone other than WB or DW.
