[DW6000] Best Satellite/Transponder?I am on SatMex5 right now (990mhz). I am just wondering what the best satellite/transponder is. I am not planning to connect to another satellite, but I am just wondering. Why am I asking? No reason really, I just want to know. |

Since you can't change, only the NOC can do that and then only if you have a very good reason and an installer to repoint your antenna, it is an academic question in any case.
I've been on 99 for several years, different transponders and been very satisfied. |

Now, I think they're all about equal because they're all getting pretty evenly loaded. I did a change when I first received my 7000, but it took a lot of talking and a lot of complaints to get it done. |

I've been on G4R (99W) for nearly 4 years and have had very little difficulty. From what I have casually noticed here in the Forum, it seems like G4R gets fewer complaints than some of the others. I've been on 3 or 4 different x-ponders as well, and they all seem to work fine. My 2 cents, for what it's worth. |

Re: [DW6000] Best Satellite/Transponder?I'm on G4R also. Except for occasional glitches, it has worked fine for my DW4000, then DW6000, and now DW7000. I've been switched to 3 or 4 different transponders since my DW4000 was installed 4 years ago. |

G4R for 3 years, three different transponders. And this is my 3rd year on Satmex 5 now and my third transponder here.
Some good, some bad, wait around long enough and they will get crappy, wait around a little longer and they will get pretty good.

Sea Launch is now preparing for the launch of the Galaxy 16 communications satellite, in June. The 4,640 kg (10,229 lb) Loral 1300-series spacecraft will be the newest member of PanAmSats Galaxy HD neighborhood. As the replacement for Galaxy 4R, Galaxy 16 will reside at 99 degrees West Longitude. » www.boeing.com/special/s ··· unch.htm |

From my Google results Older link - 2003 » www.space.com/spacenews/ ··· 203.htmlGalaxy 16 is intended to replace PanAmSats Galaxy 4R satellite, which will be retired in late 2006, when its fuel is expected to run out. The satellite, launched in 2000, is one of several orbiting Boeing-built 601HP model spacecraft that have faulty xenon-ion propulsion systems.
