Should this be fixed?I've got one digital box out in my living then in my roommates room they have analog and I have analog in my room. The picture is very fuzzy and the audio is the same. I've had a tech out and he said that it's complicated to fix and that because I don't have digital cable in the rooms that is the reason the picture is so bad.
I wanted to kick him in the nuts after hearing that because that is obviously a lie. But I've had several techs out in the past due to shitty signal on TV and internet and nothing ever seems to get done and I'm tired of sitting at home killing a day of work for 15 minutes of work the tech "does"
anyway should my problem be fixed I'd like to watch clear TV on everything I'm paying for but I'm tired of dealing with stupid techs who don't do anything OR blame me or my setup! which was all installed by Comcast techs when I moved into my apartment.
Is there anyone more I can talk to get results? |

Are the analog channels on your digital box fuzzy too? (BTW, I love your signature quotes.: "I get to go to lots of overseas places, like Canada." ) |

We are all digital here but they are all fuzzy it seems just not super noticeable on the big screen.
Living Room TV: 52 inch RCA Rear Projection TV
Room mate's: Some 13 inch tv
My Room: 1985 console TV, can't think of the brand
We have a 4 way splitter connecting everything. |

any analog pic is going to be "fuzzy" when compared to the same station shown in digital. |

Couple of questions:
1) You are in an apartment right? Is the wire job in the walls? Or is it a post wire (out side of the building) type install?
2) What is the EXACT reason the techs are giving you? I've been on many calls myself where multiple techs have said there wasn't an "easy fix" and it turned out that the way the owner of the building allows utilities to wire, there ISN'T an easy way to fix it since the hands of the tech can/may be tied. (Check with the building owner)
3) Have you called for a supervisor or lead to come out and look at your situation? When the tech shows up, you can ask him to get a sup or a lead out. They will grab one on the Nextel and get you an answer right away.
4) You have a console. How old? What kinda hook ups are available?
5) When did this problem start? Recently? A few months ago? Was it instant? or a gradual degration?
6) Did a tech do a side by side test with their own TV. (All in house techs carry a test set on their truck)
If you want, PM me the answers... |

1) You are in an apartment right? Is the wire job in the walls? Or is it a post wire (out side of the building) type install?
The wiring is sitting in a green box and it runs up the side of the building to a double ended coaxl connector, one end is the actual cable connection and the other end goes to wall and then there is a plate with another double ended coaxl connection.
They keep finding stuff on the line, like the first time it's been an amp, then they found some little thing on my line that was sitting on the internet that wasn't suppose to be there, it connects to one part of the cable and then it connects to the other half of the cable, Sorry I can't think of the name but basiclly it limited talking to one way and wasn't suppose to be there.
This started happening last year when I was getting very shitty internet connections where it would be slow or the connection wouldn't stay on. My signals were high and then when they started taking stuff off the line it leveled my internet levels on the modem but it started messing with all the TV pictures. But it's way worse on the analog tvs then the big screen with digital. On the big screen it's most noticeable on Fox when your watching an animated shows like The Simpsons and Family guy. But actual real life programming isn't too bad to watch.
3) Have you called for a supervisor or lead to come out and look at your situation? When the tech shows up, you can ask him to get a sup or a lead out. They will grab one on the Nextel and get you an answer right away.
No I haven't everyone I've talked with who's come by the house has talked down to me like I don't know anything and said that they don't need to be calling for help
4) You have a console. How old? What kinda hook ups are available?
1985, it has 3 coaxl and a RCA inputs. I know it's not the TV because it happens on the other tv that has analog and it looks just as bad.
5) When did this problem start? Recently? A few months ago? Was it instant? or a gradual degration?
It started last august or so, I moved into my apartment on june 15th 2005 and had the cable installed the same day before I actually moved any furnature in. Everything was great and then like I said it started with the internet being very intermittent and I'd have techs out and they'd keep finding stuff on the line saying that this and that isn't suppose to be there and they'd take it off and say my signals are fine and leave. I even showed the very ghosty, crackly noise programs to one of the techs and he said I should get digital cable to fix the problem and all analog tvs are going to continue to look like that until I get digital cable. I know that is just a line of B.S and it pisses me off that he can just say taht to customers because he's to lazy to do his job.
6) Did a tech do a side by side test with their own TV. (All in house techs carry a test set on their truck)
No they didn't do anything besides check the signals, un screw and rescrew the coaxl and just told me to buy digital cable to get rid of the poor picture. The other techs would find somthing on the line and take it off and say everything is fine and then leave.
To be honest I'm getting fed up where I'll just dump my TV and stay with just cable internet because I can just download any tv I want if comcast isn't going to fix the problem why should I pay??
Thanks for any help |
