Re: Speed drop

Well, at least it's not just happening to me. Really wish they had left it alone as a gift to loyal customers. I did read the other posts about the Edge. Maybe the drop is an attempt to encourage a move up to the Edge.

I'll take my 4.6/358 and be happy.

Well, I just got off the phone with a Knology tech trying to see why I still don't get any good results with the Edge service. I had them turn it back on today (and yes I did restart my cable modem and router).

They checked and I am running the correct config file. Just so you will know, I ran three bandwidth test from three places before and after the upgrade. I was getting 4.5 down and 480 up before and now I am getting 3 down and 480 up. Isn't that screwy?

My internet seems to be running good, but I have tried to download files from uncapped servers and I cannot get over 415/Ksec. So, I know I am not running right. I was doing much better on the $15.00 a month less plan. I really wish they would figure out what is wrong. I thought maybe the tests I was running just couldn't handle the new speed but I don't think so since the fastest download speed I can get is still around 400Ksec.

Have a friend in Pine Level who has Charter and no alternative. Supposed to get 3 and would be very happy with 2.5. Some days 256MB or much less is all he gets and rarely very little over 1.2. He just irritates them as much as possible by calling and complaining. BellSouth says they will be in his area some day.

If I were paying Knology for 7, and getting what you are getting, they would be hearing from me frequently. I understand the old "best effort" argument, but one would think they could at least get close to it. If they can't, why do they sell it? One of life's great mysteries.
