Works fine here, f12-block unwanted popups, make sure that it checked. Woot! Man has it been a long 8 months. Gotta do a clean install, finally I can live peacefully and not have to worry about weekly updates anymore. |

OMG!? I totally missed it. I've spent the last three hours just catching up with blogs I'm subscribed to. DAMN IT they're evil.
Whooooooooooooooot! I was already getting irritated with all the missing keyboard shortcuts in Firefox. Sweet! |

Opera still rulez!!
At least in windows, it does. Although I did find a very easy way to install Opera in Linux, so that fonts do look so crappy. |

It seems a lot smoother than the last beta. And as usual it seems faster. |

Not having tried any of the 9.0 weeklies or betas, I must say this Site Preferences of Opera is fabulous. Now I can (finally) allow/disallow certain things for certain sites (disable Javascript for certain annoying sites, mask as IE for others, enable the Flash plugins for still others, etc). |

Not having used any of the betas this is a very new version to me. Seems slower on loading pages. This widget thing has me a bit concerned not sure if I will ever use it. Also it seems as tho it can be exploitable. Now could be wrong since not really sure how it all w*rks yet. |

I can't seem to find a way to mask as IE. There are some sites that won't let you in, if you're not using IE or Mozilla. (sigh) Where is the browser ident settings in Opera 9? |

For those upgrading, you'll probably have to do a clean install, instead of installing over the top. I tried installing over 8.54 and all the text (menus, dialog boxes, etc) were gone. Clean install worked just fine though.
So far, I like it, seems faster, and the thumbnail preview is a neat feature. Haven't tried the widgets out, but those seem cool too. Also, startup is really fast, don't have to wait for it to load, it just pops right up. |

I've backed up my Opera program folder as well as its counterparts in the documents and settings folder. I'll do a clean install and see if I can get things back the way they were |

... update notice popped up this morning, installed over top of 8.54 effortlessly, could not have been easier - that's how an update is supposed to go ! ... all settings retained, but I don't know about this 'widget' thing - - have to think on that one a bit ... ... is 'check spelling' new ? ... |

Opera has grown on me and I've been switching between it and Firefox. I have yet to try 9.0, but from the sounds of it and if it's really an improvement, I maybe able to use it as a default. But only time will tell. |

Hmm, I tried Opera a long time ago, and I didn't really like this. Maybe this one will live up to the hype. |

is there a reason to do a fresh install? I just keep installing ontop the old one
I've had about 10 versions on this computer at work in the past few years.
appears to run great ... with pages it was having issues with before.
I remain happy with opera as my #1 browser and usually have all 3 browser flavors running at some point during the day anyway. |

It's good to see antiserious installed over the top without problems. I also got the notification but haven't 'upgraded' yet.
I've been following the beta thread with interest, but decided to wait until the final product was released. Get to explore everything new all at once...kind of like Christmas morning. I am a bit concerned about some claiming that installing fresh is the way to go. It seems since I get the screen within the program, that they intend to have it update without problems the way it apparently did with antiserious. I would really hate to have to start fresh with everything already set up the way I like it. I'll also be interested to see how fegul's 'preferred' (experimental) method goes. I think I'll watch this thread a little longer before I 'take the plunge'. Call me a coward if you want....I've been called worse. |

Clean install is only necessary with installing over beta/preview versions. Final over final is fine. |

On a site that needs masking: Right click-edit site prefs-network-browser identification I would rather have it in the quick prefs so I can permanently set to IE. Opera should not be deciding for me when and when not to mask. I am going to give feedback on this , and hopefully they will put it back like it was. Other than that, everything else is tops. |

I'm liking it. I did a clean install, moved everything over which took a little time, but I did it and it works. Its fast, thats for sure. I'm spending my time training the content filter since that was what I wanted most! Yay! |

Yep....me too. Looking good so far....and FAST! Pretty 'fancy' installer too. Like you said, it gives you the option to check if you're upgrading or installing new before you go for it. This is cool! Going to play with my new toys now. |

They're giving us the software, so the least we could do is let the sites that we visit know we're using Opera. I don't see anything wrong with that. If we're always masked then we're just giving IE more market share than it deserves.
Drop the mask (unless you need it!)

Is Opera 9 more secure than Firefox? I am running the latter, Is it worth me switching?
Thanks in advance. |

Thats a battle thats been going on for a while now. It eventually boils down to personal choice, so try it out and see if you like it. Some people do, some people dont.
I personally switched for a number of reasons (I even left behind adblock in FF for it) |

Installed (fresh installation because this is a new OS installation as well) earlier this morning. One thing I haven't liked is the manner in which it alphabetizes the imported bookmarks.
In addition, when I noticed the BitTorrent capability, I decided to test it. It crashed the browser. I think this may have been because I attempted to use the same port as Azureus. I just tested it with the default port Opera chose and it works just fine. |
