Something New & Exciting For The New York Forum!Something wonderful is being offered to those here in the NY Forum jazzman916 , tmpchaos & I are offering to create a page for each locality in the Tri-State area represented here, so that the NY Forum subscribers of the BBR Monitoring Service can track their line stats and compare them with others in their area. Applications are now being accepted for
»Tri-State Monitors FAQThis is the info needed to create the graph monitoring. If you aren't 100% comfortable with posting it here in this thread, you may send an IM to: jazzman916 , lilhurricane , or tmpchaos Your Username City/State ISP Line type (static/dynamic) Line Speed Monitor Number (see example below) Setup (modem/router) Connection Type (Cable, DSL, etc)
Important Note: Even if you have a static IP, you must create the account as a dynamic IP. If you already have a monitor set as static, you may change it to dynamic but you may lose your historical data. Basic monitoring is (was) free for signups prior to September 25th 2000. New signups cost 1 Tool Point per week. This does not mean accounts prior to that date, it refers to monitoring begun and continuously maintained since before that date.
If free monitoring was interrupted and then re-initiated, it is no longer free. For security and privacy, BBR uses a cookie feature so that if you are logged in, only you can see your static IP graph. But for those that are not logged in, the graph is not visible, it will appear broken. So setting the graph to a dynamic IP will allow everyone to see the graph while the IP will remain hidden. Remember, the more people that participate the more useful the information will be when comparing stats! Let's do it! |

Yep, received! Now to work on the ZA issue. See: » Tweaking FAQ » How do I become pingable with Zone Alarm?jazzman916 is better than I am with that stuff, so if the FAQ doesn't help, just yell Edit - he has a Linksys router as well:

Rich, if you have a router, ZA or anything on your computers doesn't matter. If you have a router, which one? Have you enabled the WAN to be pingable? On a Linksys depending on your model/firmware you need to do a double negative - Disable Block WAN Requests. |

The graph should be populated tomorrow morning - I'll check then. To anyone else who sets this up - on the chart where you enter the static IP & the check box if you have dynamic IP, whethere you have static IP or not an IP address must be entered!. There is a button there 'My Public IP' - use that IP address. And, you must be 'pingable'. Depending on what router you have, check the assorted faq to determine how to do this. |

I have a Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G router I'm running HyperWRT2.0 In the security settings: I have the Firewall enabled Block Anonymous Internet Requests unchecked Filter Multicast Checked Filter Internet NAT Redirection unchecked Filter IDENT(Port 113) checked This seems to work, although I would rather not filter multicasts - we'll see |

LOL bout time, have a Verizon long distance I don't use for about $28 a month with no VM or Caller ID, use my cell cause I don't want to pay the long distance charges. $14.95 a month for unlimited and all the bells and whistles, just needed to get my act together and do it.
I'll do this after it's hooked up.

I am right now in Elmhurst where I stopped my line monitoring since a while. I am moving to Manhattan in a few days and I will definitely get back line monitoring when all is settled. I will let you know by then. |
