Itunes, How to delete a library not the main song library?im sure that therre is a simple way of doing this but i just cant seem to figure it out and it is killing me, i have found that i REALY dont like to use itunes. so i have a laptop and a nano, and the Mrs. has a nano and the desktop, i downloaded alot of music for her in my laptop, and left the music is the folders where i had downloaded them, i open my itunes (that i only use for me) and for a start i cant seem to open her library to add more songs, so i disconnect. start up the desktop and open her itunes, plug in her nano and now it shows that her nano has my library and i dont know how to delete it. also how do i plug her nano into my itunes and add songs without it adding my songs to her machine? does this make sense? i hope so, cause im this close to breaking the whole lot, it frustrates me soooooo much, i bought the nano's cause i thought that they would be better/ nicer then those MP3 players, boy was i wrong, enough of my bitching.... as you can see in the photo, how do i delete the stuff in the red box? thanks |

Go to "Preferences" and disable the "Look for Shared Music" option. |

One iPod to one iTunes profile. You cant add songs from two iTunes profiles into the same iPod.
You also cant control one iTunes library from another iTunes via the shared library thing in iTunes. |

The library you're trying to delete is controlled through Limewire. Open Limewire and go to Preferences --> iTunes --> Sharing and uncheck the "share my music" box |

so now that i have all of this music in my computer not in itunes but else where, how do i put it into her nano with out it updating all of my tunes?
is there a hacked (up) itunes program that i can just drag files in and out without dealing with this? like the other MP3 players out there? |

Turn off Auto-sync. That will let you add MP3s from both computers. Open iTunes, select the iPod, and then drag MP3s from your computer into the iPod's library. They will not get copied to your iTunes library, only the iPod. This isn't rocket science, just takes a bit of patience and trial and error. |

Once you turn off auto sync in iTunes, like I believe you have, you will need to completely reload you library onto the ipod as you want it. Once you do that, you should be set. From now on you can add and delete songs and playlists from your iPod as you wish.
One note... If you delete a playlist, it doesn't delete the songs on the iPod, only the playlist. You have to delete the specific songs from the iPod library |

i downloaded alot of music for her in my laptop
She has her own computer and her own iPod, right? Why not just put the songs you "downloaded" onto her computer so that you can use iTunes the way it was designed? |

i do appreciate all those who have offered help in trying to solve me problem. said by Johnny:She has her own computer and her own iPod, right? You are trying to edit the song information for a shared library. Stop using limewire's sharing feature. Actually add the songs to your iTunes library, and then you can edit the information.
This does not seem like an iTunes problem when the part that is confusing you is your add on, unsupported software. |
