When you have hardware hooked up to your computer, that icon will appear "Safely Remove Hardware"...it's normal, let it lie.

Its most likely the icon for a jump drive or the little flash card readers that HP has installed.

Does your computer have a slot or slots for various memory cards, such as SD, CF, etc. etc.? If so, then that's what it is.

In any case:

•right click on the Clock,

•choose Properties,

•make sure Hide Inactive Icons is checked,

•click Customize,

•find the icon(s) you want to hide and then set the dropdown next to the icon to "Always Hide."
