Blu-ray supports mpeg-4, mpeg-2 enhanced for HD and VC1. Just like HD-DVD. There is no difference between the two here in regards to the disk itself. What is put on the disk is a whole different story.
Yes, I understand that. However, Sony and its studios will release Blue-ray discs (movies) with the MPEG2 codec.
