Well I am courious about this too... Found this article.. » www.syracuse.com/poststa ··· l&coll=1It does say standard service. Wonder what this means for those of us in the Rochester area ? And I also wonder if this article is giving wrong information. |

The article I saw was in the Potsdam/Massena local Daily, the "Courier-Observer". It was a bit more extensive than the Post Standard article. It did NOT mention price, so after seeing the Syracuse article, I'm relieved that the price isn't getting jacked up. Of course, Verizon is bombarding the area with ultra-cheap rates for their DSL, locally, so TW would be shooting themselves in the foot if they raised the RR prices. According to the article you referenced, it lools like the Metro Syracuse area will be getting the speed increase a week before we will, here in the North Country. |

I guess we'll see, I called these people a couple of weeks ago and everyone played dumb, god forbid they be upfront and say, "Yes Mr.Lazarus we a re planning a speed jump in your area sometime in late Sept, early Oct..." What, do they think It's going to compromise national security by letting me know? ridiculous... Anyway, regardless of the speed boost I'm still giving Fios a shot when it's up and running, it's almost here, they have the building with all the fiber equipment in it up a couple blocks away, just need to dig those damn trench's.... |

I don't think they are playing. Getting answers to direct questions is near impossible. TWCNY is not a very service oriented organization. |

We have this article in the Post-Standard and a post of what someone saw at the New York State Fair: » [TWC] TW CNY Speed upgradIt looks like the speed increase will become a reality, and it's about time! I don't know if all of Upstate NY will get a speed upgrade, but at least those in the TWCNY sect will, according to the article. And yes, FiOS *is* available in the Syracuse area, so Time Warner is making a smart move by upgrading the speeds. |

It's no coincidence that Syracuse Time Warner subscribers are getting this upgrade when Verizon FIOS being offered. Either way, its a win-win for the consumer. |

The 10 down and 1 up started in TWCNY a couple days ago. I didn't get the change until I unplugged and replugged the cable modem power cord. This is for the standard RR connection. |

Only Upstate NY for now, that I know of. Although, other RR users in NYC claim they received a slight increase (7 Mbps down and 512 Kbps up). Check some of the other threads in this forum for more info. |

Speed tests still vary from time to time, but my last one was 8994/944, gotta go check my server pings Hope the d/l increases a tad. But hey, as long as packet loss is minimal I can't complain...not yet anyway I'm in Liverpool, just outside Syracuse... |

I'm seeing this as live for Ithaca, NY already. Modem was bumped offline and required a power cycle. Upstream went from 384 to around a megabit. Going to check what new cm file is |

I live in New Hartford, right next to Utica maybe 15 min. from Rome and maybe 30 min. from Syracuse. I'm also in the TWCNY area however I haven't gotten these upgrades. I've tried power cycling my modem and everything but there still shit, much slower then the speed I should be getting. Also 90% of my digital cable channel don't work (black screen or so block and slow mo'd you can't watch them). |

I'm surprised it would be here in Holland Patent, but not in New Hartford. Any chance you use to be with Adelphia? |

I don't know how I could still be with Adelphia, I mean they are TW around here now. There's TW trucks and everything.
My download speed never breaks 4000 and my upload speed barely breaks 300. When I go to my girlfriends house later I'm going to check their speed and see what it is.
I'm not so mad about the shit internet speeds as I am about the digital cable channels not working. Every time I call they tell me to do the same thing and I tell them they say that every time I call and that it never fixes anything, but they have me do it anyways and what do you know. It never works. I've replaced my box a couple times and I'm about to replace all the cable wire running through my house (which is A LOT of cable wire). |

why don't you call them up about this? sounds like they need to do some better wiring or throw in an amplifier if appropriate. as it is, youre paying for something you can't use. |

I asked about Adelphia, with the thought that their infrastructure, while currently owned by TW, may still be in need of significant updating. |

To be honest I tried power cycling my modem a couple of times with no luck. However there was a power outage here in my neighborhood on Sat. Once the power was back on line, about 1.5 hrs later, I noticed the increase. I recommend unplugging the modem for half an hour and see what happens. Could have just been coincidence, but I didn't think so... Still holding steady...

Well I sure hope Rochester, NY is included in these 10/1 upgrades. I'm near downtown, there's no FIOS available nor anytime soon because Frontier is the phone provider in the area.
Of course we all know CNY is getting the 10/1 speeds to compete with FIOS, which is already available in some areas, and not to mention the measly 384kbit upload people have now is not fast enough for RR's digital phone if you are using the PC at the same time.
I don't care about the download rate to be honest, I already have 7mbit, it's just my upload limit is murder imho.
PS: the person who said "384kbit upload is enough for anyone" needs to read up on the infamous Bill Gates quote about ram "640k is enough for everyone". |

I just talked to TW and they told me they know nothing about the upgrades and have no idea why my town did not reveice any upgrades when most of the towns close too and around me did. |

Give them a call Rhelic and see what they say. I wouldn't be to worried yet, the advertised increase is "By 15 September" Once the 16th rolls around I'd be worried and start making some calls. Go to the online chat dept. and share this thread with them and see what they say...... What I'd really like to see, and maybe someone here might know this because they work for TWCNY, is if the upgrade is for NY as a whole or are they just going to leave people out in the cold because they're not in a Fios area. If they do leave people out in the cold I'll drop them just on principle alone...... |
