Gaming ProblemI just recently got FIOS and I have noticed in some games if I refresh the server list to many times all the servers will show 999 as the ping. When i try to join a CS:S servers the list will come up no problem but when i hit connect the server info box pops up and it shows no one in the server. So if i quit the game and try to go on the internet nothing will come up. So i have to keep hitting refresh then finally a page will load. Its almost as if I lagged out or something. Any ideas on whats happening or how i can fix it? Edit: I found a couple of other people who are having the exact same problem I am and they explained it better. » www.techimo.com/forum/t1 ··· 549.html |

well considering you guys probably have the same routers. i would try to swop out the router first. then i would try to put your machine in the DMZ (just for testing) dont leave it there. then i wouold try to port forward all the ports you needed. |

Should I call technical support and tell them I need a new router? |

Not sure Tech Support is going to be able to get you a different kind. From what it sounds like they're giving out the last of the DLink's and then it'll be all Actiontec.
But I've read posts here and elsewhere about the problem you're having and it appears it is definitely router related. I imagine the FSC is already aware of the situation... If you called I'd just inquire whether there is a new firmware release due to come out. |

Kind of ironic how the new router causes gaming issues and Verizon just formed a gaming partnership with a company to provide better services to gamers.
Check your firmware on your router. Might make a difference. I have seen some high pings, but they usually go away pretty quick. FIOS has been very stable for me since I have had it. |

I have the same problem except I play CS:CZ. When I want to add a server, I can add some servers, others I cannot. For instance, I cannot add or join my clan's private server. When I try to view server info, it says "server not found" or something like that.
I tried port triggering, but that doesn't seem to work either. I disabled the router's firewall for my ethernet connection and it still doesn't work. I really hope this gets fixed.
*EDIT* I'm going to try port forwarding see if that works. |

Heck I can understand that. Been getting packet loss, high latency, and all kinds of other fun stuff in games as of the last month.
One second I will have a ping of about 50 and the next it jumps over 800, try flying an su-34 in that kind of lag. |

I called Verizon and they are going to send me a new router. I will post if this fixes it or not. |

Please do let us know maybe it will help here too. Might have to try out my old Linksys. |

Same problem here in SE PA. I've been subscribed to the 15/2 plan for about 5 weeks now. My 'problems' started the night installation was complete. I've had a second Actiontec router sent out with the same problem - all internet activity 'locks' for 1-3 minutes across the network, LAN connections are not affected - when I refresh a server list repeatedly or try to view server info on CS:Source. I've tried running the 'current' firmware as well as the unreleased .80.2 version found on this site. So far neither Verizon or Actiontec could help when conferenced in on the call, other than to recommend updating the firmware (even though no updates are available). Neither port forwarding or a DMZ make a difference. I'm open to all suggestions, I've been running through an ancient Netgear for a few weeks now, but the 10M WAN port is only giving me 4.5M down - substantially worse than I got from Comcast (?). |

Are you guys running these games off of a PC, or Xbox? |

My problems are through the STEAM interface on PC. Only the Counterstrike:Source servers seem to cause this problem so far. |

It would seem to me that something related to steam or source is crashing/overloading the router. This used to happen to me when i would play games over a LAN. I agree that updating the firmware or trying a different router would be the next best step.
Also, are you able to connect to a specific IP using the connect command in steam?? |

I do not know if this is going to Help.
But here goes, It sounds like a problem with Max connection. CS has tons of server. If the router can only handle lets say 5000 to 6000 connections at one time when you go over that number. You will hit a wall. |
