Haven't noticed anything here. What page are you refering to ? The home page ?

The issue was with the .txt extension. I thought text files were safe. Is this something new, or has text files been infected before ??

Yes the home page instantly goes to notepad. I have deleted all cookies and temp files in IE. Ran Spybot SD and eTrust Anti Virus and both did not indicate problems. Otehr websites do not have a notepad popup.

Recently I used the following site to download some clips from Mystique.com but the movies were scanned and not showed no virus. Also may have downloaded from youtube but not sure. Please help.

Maybe run the cleanup tools as suggested. You could also use SFC to check the system files to see if anything is broken. You may need the O/S disk, and also run Microsoft update after though.

I went to the home page a few times and had no probs, not sure if anyone else has the issue you mention.

Edit: What browser, if IE, it may need repairing, or if Firefox or Opera, maybe uninstall/reinstall to see if it helps.

do you use The Proxomitron or something similar?

Occasionally when I enter an address into the address bar Internet Explorer will open the download dialogue box and ask whether I want to save index.php (for example)or open it. Stopping and re-starting The Proxo fixes it.

I have followed the steps in "I think my computer is infected..." (or whatever it's called now) and run Rootkit Revealer etc and everything comes up clean so I have put it down to a glitch in the Proxo. I would rather have this occasional problem than be without The Proxomitron though, it's a fantastic little program

Never used proximation. I think this has more to do with how the page opens and how flash player works. If I google youtube and hit the first link provided by google the same thing happens getting a notepad file opening up. Now google provides a sublisting and if i click that link i get the page but a message on the page no video. if i stay on that page and click around i can use you tube. but if i click the you tube logo on the page i get the note pad message.

btw i have installed a new version of quicken recnetly. no other changes to my box. also i am currently staying at an apartment that provides free broadband but they limit access to sites they dont think we shold be surfing. but on those sites you get the usual IE message that site is blocked. i dont know if this has anything to do with it but no such message from you tube site only the notepad opening. stumped.

could if have something to do with flash player not opening up properly. donesnt you tube use flash player files?

Which browser do you use? YouTube uses ActiveX, do your security settings allow ActiveX? As well as blocking websites is ActiveX blocked on the apartment network?

I don't know if that would cause this problem though.
