I've got at least 8 devices at home that I can play a DVD on. 3 of them are stand alone DVD players.

There are 110 million+ DVD players sold in the US since the debut of DVD in 1997 (NOT including PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, and PC's). The chances of someone that is going to buy the Wii not having a DVD player of some kind already is pretty slim.

I'm more a fan-boy of oldskool. I'm not happy at the prices of the software (X360 titles average=$59.99).

I think that if Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo each released a system at $299 and titles at $29.99, they would each fluctuate around 1/3 market share.

I am not a fanboy. I can afford each system, and would glady get one of each if there was a title worth it. I would not hav e a GC if not for playing ResEvil4 on someone elses. I would not have Xbox if not for playing halo on a friend's. I do have a 360 and none of my friends do. They have toddlers and financially, they are wiser.

Spend your $700+ . But don't be ignorant of other platforms.

Depends on the design. If the controller fails, then, since its back compatible, they can release a new development pack that includes the old controller. I wouldn't let the controller dissuade you, it's a bit of a non-factor.

Nintendo is not "competing" in the strictest sense. They know the market is too young (relatively speaking) for that. Competing in such a marginal market misses the point. And with games now hitting $70 a piece (Madden 2007).... It's getting out of hand. My only complaint with the 360 is that there aren't many games geared for family playing or smaller kid play. I'd like to see some games that I can get the kids in on and all of us enjoy a rainy day or winter afternoon (in a couple months).

I had done the camping out for a 360 last year, only for resale (Paid for X-Mas).

You can bet this will have an effect on Sony. They struggle in all other divisions and can;t even make battery packs without massive defects.

Just ask the developers who write the games: MS and Nintendo have cheaper development kits. Better licensing deals for retail software.

Am I biased against Sony? maybe. But until it's out and I see that all my friends have bought one, an extra controller, online access, and games...then I'll not be so skeptical.
