I am curious why changing OS would change anything Unless you are using USB in which case the drivers might get messed.
If ethernet it is totally independent of the computer and as long as the PC still speaks ethernet TCP/IP should make no difference.
Even where you are and it is now PPPoE that is all handled by the modem/gateway... so again should have made no difference if it had already been configured. |

Good questionI used ethernet. The setup instructions warned me to write down my ISP info as it would disappear when I upgraded from WinME to XP.
Perhaps someone on an XP DSL reports forum might know the reason. |

Re: I am curious why changing OS would change anything The reason is that the upgrade to XP reset your dialing preferences. Instead of using your ethernet port as your default connection it wanted to use a modem. This has nothing to do with the provider, really. It has to do with microsofts software.
