Westell → Need info

I was hoping that you guys can help me .I have a existing post already.The link is below...

I was wonderingif anyone knows of a way that i can take a versalink 327w modem and use it as a router with a cable modem.The cable modem is a surfboard modem model Sb5100 series.I hope that someone can help me out and i'm sorry if the mods get mad for me having 2 post on the same issue.I fiqure the olds would be better if i had 2 post of the same issue.

Yes, it is possible, at least with the verizon version or the generic (retail) version of the 327w. I don't know about the bellsouth version, so maybe you can report back your experience.

In the configuration drop-down menu, select "Advanced Wan". In the Advanced WAN menu, there should be a choice for the WAN PORT. Set that to ETHERNET PORT 1. When you have done that, your 327w becomes a router, and loses its DSL modem functionality. You connect ethernet port 1 to your cable modem. Then use your other three ethernet ports to connect your computers.

I have done and when the modem resets it come up to the login page.Since i have no dsl account at all.I choose admin as logon and tried to leave the password blank but the damn versalink keep asking for one and then it would go thru and stop and the famous cannot connect to taget service words.I then restarted the cable modem and the westell and tried to surf but i got this link in the address bar »launchmodem/?rdr=http%3A ··· 2Fwowetc.
So i gave up and got the good old belkin out
