[Tech] Looking for a DSLRIve had few el cheapo cameras to snap pics here and there. I'm looking forward to getting a beginner DSLR to do some macro and clear shots. My budget is sub 800$. What you guys think of this one as the first? » www.newegg.com/product/P ··· 30120031I have read website reviews and users reviews and there isn't that many cons to it. I know the lens arent that great that come with it but they should suffice me till I find something better. Thx for adivice. |

Re: Looking for a DSLRNot a bad camera at all, but frankly, I would wait until the Pentax K10D gets on the market first and try it out. You will end up getting much more for your money from it then the XT. |

Hmm, thanks for your comment. Just read a review on it but the $999 price scares me.
I have to give this a long thought and maybe just maybe it'll be Xmas time soon. |

Retail should be $899. Benefits are never having to worry about sensor cleanings, completely weather sealed body, every lens you use on it will become image stabilized, you can use any P/K mount lens on it which opens up tons of lens choices and cheap prices to if you don't mind manual focus! Might be a bit more upfront, but in the end it will actually save you money. |

As a DIE HARD classic camera person a bit shocked to hear you flat out say that (Like you shouldn't repurchase an IS system over and over again in every lens. Actually though while PENATX was a MUCH respected FILM camera brand 20 years ago they dimmed much before digital... yet now coming back with a VENGENCE... even on the bottom end with internal IS. Maybe change of ownership/generation... but I say GO PENTAX.... kick them in the but if they are that asleep. Canon and NIKON better wake up FAST and do internal IS as well...vs you have to repurchase for and extra $400 with EVERY lens BS. Having only a two lens investment at this point with Canon... I'll likely next cam dump them in a heart beat if they don't. |

Internal IS is BS. Sure it's great for people who use an 18-55mm kit lenses, but how far do you think that sensor can really move? Slap a 200mm+ lens on one of those cameras and your IS goes bye bye. Right?
That's why Canon isn't using in body stabilization and that's right from their mouth |

Exit, you are talking out your ass on this one. Tha anti-shake in the 7D works great on 200mm (I can't speak to longer as I don't have longer lenses). It also senses automatically if the camera is panning and only compensates for off-axis movement. Canon is only saying that because they don't want to lose their goldmine in IS sales. This was hand held with internal IS. Does this look like BS to you (200mm 1/30th Tv)? KONICA MAXXUM 7D 200mm 1/30th F2.8 ISO100
And to the OP, get the Pentax K10D. If I was just now getting into the DSLR arena and hadn't already invested about 7K in my Minolta 7D I would snap that thing up.

A stabilized sensor is not bad at all. The main difference that should be noted is that what you see through the viewfinder is not a 100% representation of what the sensor is seeing (but most viewfinders don't show 100% anyway) but leaving a little more room for cropping is an easy enough fix.
This obviously does not apply to cams with electronic viewfinders which displays exactly what the sensor is seeing but the tradeoff is slower response time. |

There's no reason Canon shouldn't offer built in IS into their future bodies. You can always turn it off when you are using a lens with IS. I would buy it. |

i just can't believe all these ''GO PENTAX'' referrals. looks like pentax pulled it off . unfortunately the prices of the compatable lenses are going thru the roof with the new k10d with IS i'm wondering how the new lenses with IS will work.. pentax also included the electrical contacts needed for IS lenses..
great example B52. BTW |
