Re: Max Sync Observations

I am already running a homerun connected to a fairly new splitter. At 3mb my SN was 13, so when they jacked up the sync the SN dropped down way below what I have had for over a year. Also, even though I had a bad SN, it hasnt lost sync yet. I am guessing that this test process that is going on will finally settle on the best reliable sync possible, so that 8124 may go down if the errors and low SN continue. I read that there were several new interleave profiles they use, so who knows what will happen next. I will be interested to see where my connection ends up when this is finished.

jps_valdosta - you are in the same boat as myself. A spectacular line at 3.0, and marginal at 6.0 but holding sync. My SNR is 12.5 down, 13.0 up.

Let us know what happens when you get some rain in your area. I'm curious, as we've had two hard rains since a month ago when I upgraded... I lost sync both times until the rain let up. That never used to happen with 3.0.

My modem reset again at lunch today with even better results:

8124/511 with a SN of 8.5 and no CRC errors.

Maybe the option to order 6.0 will be available to me soon.

Your sync rates match mine exactly. I saw the option to upgrade to 6.0 about 5 days before my sync rates changed to 8124/511. Not that it's written in stone or anything - just my experience.

Keep an eye on the CRC errors. Mine start at 0 but creep up to a couple hundred over the course of a week or so. Not too bad for supposedly being about 9000 feet from the DSLAM with these sync rates on a non-interleaved (fast data path) line. I'd think with your line being set at interleaved (is it still even after your new rate sync?) that your CRC errors would be pretty minimal.
