Bull.

Vynil was recorded with "RIAA equalization" and you can tell when you play a file from vynil (never mind the pops and clicks). This can, of course, be dealt with with the right software, such as cool edit.

MP3 was not designed to be a direct competitor for CD's, obviously, since it is a compression scheme. However, once again software is your friend. Convert it to WAV at 48 Khz, process it with your software, then burn to .CDA format. Works quite well.

Yes, I think Vinyl sounds better in some ways than cd's, and ESPECIALLY Mpeg (moving PICTURE experts group..) layer 3 audio compressed format.

first, the "riaa curve" was designed to counterbalance the cut of the vinyl with playback equipment. you don't need software, you need a real (phono) pre-amp.

second, converting a compressed format, back to an uncompressed format does not magically re-create information that has been discarded due to compression... it is "lossy."

and finally, why would you convert to 48Khz? Cd audio standard is 44.1. You're making more work for your computer, reconverting it to a higher sample rate, just to reconvert it again to 44.1.
