Yes, I think Vinyl sounds better in some ways than cd's, and ESPECIALLY Mpeg (moving PICTURE experts group..) layer 3 audio compressed format.
I still purchase vinyl records of music. There, I said it. Yes, it's true.
first, the "riaa curve" was designed to counterbalance the cut of the vinyl with playback equipment. you don't need software, you need a real (phono) pre-amp.

second, converting a compressed format, back to an uncompressed format does not magically re-create information that has been discarded due to compression... it is "lossy."
and finally, why would you convert to 48Khz? Cd audio standard is 44.1. You're making more work for your computer, reconverting it to a higher sample rate, just to reconvert it again to 44.1.
