Re: who uses a floppy drive?

I haven't used a floppy disk in almost 10 years *sigh*. For about 5 years before I pulled the last 3.5" device from my desktop case, I was using a LS120 drive. Similar to a floppy drive but it is a boot-able IDE device instead(what the ZIP drive was supposed to be).

The LS120 could read/write regular and 2MB 3.5 floppies but it also took 120 Mb disks. The nice thing about the 120 Mb disks is that they are stable and don't deteriorate over time(good for storing tax returns, ect.). And I used to have an install of Win98 SE on a single disk that I used for playing my older games. I still have a small stack of disks for archival(since CDs and DVDs aren't stable) and for diagnostic purposes. I keep meaning to put the drive into and external USB enclosure, but I mostly use my USB key for troubleshooting and xfering files.

BTW I have my 128 disk 3.5" floppy version of Win95 around to threaten the younger techs with. And I know where to get a working 8" floppy drive when I really need one.
