I'm also west end bottom of the hill going to Ancaster and sadly this is pretty much representitive of the avg speeds I've been getting since mid Sept. |

If only every day was as nice as Saturday morning. |

So that's where all my bandwidth went... *snicker* |

I claim improvment on the grounds that I didn't get packet loss! |
|

Pings pings pings! (google.com)
Ping statistics for 64.233.187.99: Packets: Sent = 276477, Received = 272447, Lost = 4030 (1% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 9ms, Maximum = 4487ms, Average = 187ms Control-Break
(When you consider that I get 12 hours of 10-20ms pings a day that average is kinda nasty, huh?)
Cogeco called me to inform me they were canceling a service call not 10 minutes ago because they had identified an "Area issue affecting the entre service area.". (I have a feeling that means they've acknowledeged an overloaded node.) Hopefully that means I'mm be getting more then 200Kbits during prime time in the future. |

Yea ... the node is defiantly congested ... when I got my modem replaced a month ago the Tech had told me my speeds wouldn't be very good because of the node (its gotten steadily worse since then). And i live in the same area as all of you who are getting horrible speeds... I pray they fix it soon because I can't stand this anymore >_ Here's a link to my post: » [Hamilton] Extremly Slow Internet |

So, I called on the 26th to try to get more information about this supposed "issue" they're looking into and noone seems to know anything about it. BUT! They WERE able to schedule me a tech!1!1 (This was also canceled via non-descript phonecall). So I call back on the 28th and see if I can get info, which again they don't seem to have, but they WERE willing to schedule me another tech! (Again, canceled by Cogeco).
I find it pretty funny that the tech support is scrambling to send me a tech while the dispatch just cancels it every time.
Any of the Cogeco people have any clue what, if anything, is being done in this area? |

I'm getting this too and I'm sick and tired of it... Cogeco was supposed to call me about issuing me some kind of refund, but yeah right. I'm going to contact mountain cable and see if I can't switch to them because this is bull... They've known about this problem for MONTHS and they're just sitting on their asses.
(Or does mountain cable lease cogeco's lines?) |

yea, cogeco has been shitty, no ETAs, no progress, no nothing |
|

There are lots of people mentioning this on a McMaster Student Forum.
So, you think the pencil pushers will jump when they find out the Mcmaster Student Union is about to receive a petition urging them to warn students about the problems Cogeco has refused to fix in the area? A few dozen people complaining might be ignored. I doubt they ignore the representitives of a student body 30,000 strong.
It's about to become more expensive for managment to ignore the problem. |

And i really dont care what cogeco techs on this site have to say, because in dealing with 3 different cable companies in 3 different cities, they ALL SAY THE SAME THING
EXCHANGE YOUR MODEM, YOUR AREA IS NOT CONGESTED. its been going on since middle of august, thats the bottom line. its now almost january for god sakes.
dont worry though, cogeco. mcmaster students will be gone in april. |
|
| |
BTW: When they ask you to exchange, schedule a tech to come exchange it. Don't do it yourself.
As always, the goal is to cost Cogeco as much money as possible so it becomes cheaper to fix the problem. |
