And then start throwing him questions he couldnt answer to just show how much of a dumb ass he was like oh i need to clear my cache on my linux box and 3 windows boxes all having same problems.  Oh so i need to clear my routers cache to because it has high pings to websites to and timeouts in tracerts.  Or hows my cache affecting speed thru ftp and newsgroups and when i wget files from my linux box or scp to it from other linux boxes. Lol i wonder if half the techs that work for bellsouth know what half those things are.]]></description>

He gave me his cell number so if it's still going on Monday he could try to get a status.  He seemed to think that Bell thought it was a hardware issue somewhere, but they could not find what piece of equipment it was. ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[anon posted : I've been perplexed by this problem for over a week now and finally thought to visit this forum - I'm really pleased to see this thread.  <br><br>It seems to me that while there are some folks reporting unrelated symptoms, there's also a very real and confusing issue here that many of us have experienced first hand.  <br><br>Bellsouth DSL performance is intermittently unacceptable.  Not totally broken - just unacceptably slow.  Not all the time, either.  For my family, the problem period seems to be mostly in the early morning.  I'm an engineer by trade and have done my homework. I know there's nothing going on in my household during these times that's going to flatten our internet connection.  I've gone so far as to set up Wireshark and actually look.<br><br>What I'm struggling with at the moment is how best to prove that this is really a legitimate problem that deserves a fix.  Performance stinks, and then it's good, and then it stinks.  This goes way beyond normal internet performance variability, and based on what I've experienced, I'd be easily convinced that it's a widespread problem. I personally have found it impossible to speak to someone higher than a level 1 tech when calling in and when all they want to do is run line tests for the hundredth time when all previous tests have come back good what other option do we have?<br><br>I apologise if I sound angry.  It's not directed at you.  It's just getting frustrating at this point.  Although last night was better.  It only dropped to 4.5 mbps.  So maybe it's getting closer to being resolved]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Zoder posted : Just had a tech out to the house.  He said everything looked good with on his test equipment and he gave me a shiny new Netopia 2241 modem.  He also had DSG put a 24 watch on the line.  So hopefully if/when the problem occurs tonight, they will be able to track down the cause.]]></description>

In my case though, I've been on max sync since I upgraded in September and have never had any sync problems.  I believe that if the DSLAM was seeing problems it would have automatically put a noise profile on my line to improve line performance.  At least that's what I've read on this forum.  But that never happened.  So hopefully things should stick since my line is fine and on max sync.  Am I assuming correct?<br><br>P.S. speeds are slow again right now.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Zoder posted : Argh.  I knew calling tech support would be more trouble then it was worth.  I called at 8 to ask if they knew what was causing the problem.  Got a tech in India.  She ran a line test and put me on interleaved without telling me to see if it would help.  It didn't.  So I asked her to put it back on Fast Path.  She put me on hold.  Came back and said the problem was on the network and would be fixed within 48 hours.  Also told me the noise profile was removed.<br><br>But 4 hours later the modem still says interleaved.  I've power cycled.  I tried both online chat and calling and can't get the Indian techs to figure out how to get it back to fast path.  If an employee can PM me so I can send you my number and get this fixed I'd be extremely grateful.]]></description>
