Re: Fios TV Install Question

Thanks, good point to remember. I'll definitely change the ActionTec's IP, rather than having to re-IP everything else.

A couple of questions on the Coax side of this equation.

I currently have 2 DirecTV Tivos and have 2 coax drops from the wiring panel in the basement (where all of the equipment listed above lives).

I want to keep the DTV drops so that we can have both sources active during an evaluation period (uncertain WAF on the FiosTV due to giving up some features of the hacked DirevTivos). I plan to run new RG-6 to the two video locations prior to the installer getting here so we can just tie it all into the structured media center and keep everything tidy.

My 2 questions:

1. Do I need 1 or 2 coax drops to each location for the dual-tuner DVR?

2. Is there anything special about the splitter needed, or is the Leviton splitter in my structured media panel likely to be sufficient for FiosTV? I'd like to keep everything in place inside the media panel when all is said and done with my install.

Thanks again,

Ted

although i haven't had my FiOS TV install yet i have had a dual tuner DVR in the past, Wide Open West cable, and it required only 1 coax drop. i can't see verizon's box being any different.

You only need 1 rg6 feed to each box for fios from the main splitter/distrobution piont.
