There were 25,000 posts in the discussion forum amazon had linked on the page for that item to calibrate thier time (see what time they posted). And that was a single thread. There were a dozen other threads with 1000-2000 posts in them with same purpose. So thats MINIMUM of 50,000 people who posted to calibrate thier time.

Considering that most people trying to get this didn't post (you probably didn't even realize there was a discussion thing since amazon disabled them from that page a few minutes before the deal happened since it was slowing them down, not that it helped), that means its quite an easy estimate that there were at least 500,000 people trying to get this.
I'm sure many of those people posted more than once, so that's flawed logic. There was still a ton of traffic, though.

Why would anyone post more than once in a time calibration post thread? You post, see what time it claims you posted, compare that to the time on your computer, and then you are set.
Those threads I was mentioning were ALL "time calibration" threads, there were other threads that people were actually discussing the deal in.
