Nothing here yet. Getting my full 5/384. First quarter does sound like March lol. They are just trying to keep us in the fog a little by saying it could come sooner, but no guarantees. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

not for a while

Those of us in HVC land (I'm in Walden, Orange County) have been getting the silent treatment from TWC for a long time; NOTHING has happened since the 5m/384k upgrade about two years ago, but that could change sometime this year.

Verizon has been rolling out FiOS in Newburgh for a couple of months now. I'm talking it up with my friends in their service area, but nobody I know has signed up yet. My guess is once there's a wholesale exodus of RR customers here, HVC will wake up and start rolling out higher speeds.

Unfortunately I live outside Verizon POTS land (we have Frontier, no mention of fiber here and we just got 3mbps DSL last year!) so my fingers are crossed that any HVC RR upgrade gets applied across the board, once it arrives here.

Re: [TWC] New Speed in Albany, NY

I recently saw contractors pulling fiber in my area (Sch'dy) - two cables actually, aerial. I got excited thinking FiOS was on the way. But I quickly realized that the fiber was being run with the TW cables, not VZ telephone cables.

So I was like fine - TW is upgrading their capacity. Yay, we still benefit.

But recently I have been seeing more and more orange conduit coils coming out of the ground on utility poles - a few in the Stockade all within 3 blocks of each other. Then I saw one on upper State St. Then one on middle State St. Yesterday I saw three VZ trucks installing what I later found to be that conduit, on Kelton Ave. Yesterday I checked the pole on middle State St, and confirmed that was a VZ pole, with no cable lines on it.

It looks rather convincing that VZ is putting in the infrastructure to go fiber in Sch'dy. I believe their homes passed in Albany County continues to grow - I have a friend who just recently was able to sign up, and he's in Colonie.

Whether you're a VZ fan or not, you gotta give credit to them for forcing TW to compete. (I just want faster upload!)

There's Verizon fios ads all over the Crossgates food court, and a kiosk. You'd figure they'd actually make it available before advertizing it.

According to the Wikipedia FiOS article, it is available in:

Albany County - Albany, Bethlehem, Delmar, Guilderland, Latham

Where is the FiOS kiosk in Crossgates?

In the movie theater they have something, I don't know if that's the specific kiosk that their ads were referring to.

The thing that makes me a little mad is TW can upgrade us when the feel it, I mean during the day I'm in Delmar surrounded by FIOS. When the first trucks showed up there, my speed went up to 7down 512 up. After FIOS was installed my speed went up to 10down 1up,I have to unplug my modem everyday, one day I plugged it back in and had 15 down and about 1300 up. At present I'm back to 10down 1up, the 10 down is nice but the 1 up is great and you really can see the difference.
The thing is the guy next store to me in Delmar is paying about 100 dollars for the same package I'm paying 162.95 and his speed is much faster. His speed is never the same though, but his up is pretty close all the time. To me upload rules.

I didn't get the e-mail. Then again, I never check my RoadRunner inbox. We did get the "double the speed, same price" notice with our bill this month though. Of course, it came with a $3 increase in our bill's price for the second month in a row. We have the All-In-One (oops, sorry, "All-The-Best") package with a DVR and an additional tuner.
