However, with every price increase is not only an explanation but also an apology. That being said, the price increases I've seen on Dish have been few and far between. My cable bill would change monthly, where my Dish bill has only gone up $5 per month in the past 3 years or so.
Not to mention cable TV seems to always go out. I laugh when I see cable's false ads talking about how satellite goes out every time there is a cloud in the sky. I only lose satellite during the worst parts of bad thunderstorms, where cable was either out or full of static to make viewing hard.
I left Dish to the more expensive cable so I could watch TV when it storms or snows up here in the north and have great HSI. My mother-in-law has had Dish in the Atlanta area, then in Jax, FL and now lives 8 blocks from us in Michigan and still has Dish. All three places had issues. The heat in the south, especially Jax caused havoc on the LNBs. Her son, my BIL, lives just north of Dallas and has Dish since he is far enough out there is no cable to have yet...when we visited at the hottest part of the day we'd watch Tivo or get out the Netflix DVDs since the Dish would flake in and out. Up here it is the heavy clouds, rain and snow. Yeah, the MIL pays $88.00 for a full ride, that is why she loves it (she's cheap) where on cable for the same the cost to me is $110.00, but I can watch tv 24/7 no matter what the weather is.
When storms come along that is when I want the signal working the most. Outages? I had one last year when a tornado hit the area. It was back on in a few hours. They never did find my neighbors dish, the one that disappeared off their roof along with some roofing. Took a week for them to get somebody from dish to do a re-install, they were swamped replacing dishes.
