Re: FIOS in Garland, Texas

after those areas are saturated we begin to look out of franchise.
ooh, does that mean those of us stuck in AT&T land have a glimmer of hope in the distant future?

At the rate Verizon seems to be going, it looks like they could be on target to perhaps finish Garland by 2007?

Verizon must concentrate on running FiOS in their own area before taking on at&t. Three CATV/interweb providers in one area would be good for subscribers but very bad for Verizon's bottom line.

Of course...hence my "distant future" comment. That Verizon FIOS rep seemed to suggest they'd eventually move outside of their franchise territory. I wouldn't be surprised if this were 5-10 years away, though.

Well...it looks like they're finally drilling in the Country Club area, so maybe Emerald Lakes is next. I know somebody asked this a few posts ago, but any idea on when Emerald Lakes will be hit?

There was a sign up that had a phone number on it for the contractor that's doing the work in the Country Club area, so I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if they know anything, or at least know who I could contact that will give me a better answer than "we plan to service your area soon".

Unless Verizon's area is 100% FiOS any attempt to wire a non Verizon area would cause a CHERRY-PICKING scream to be heard by every regulatory hog that slops at the public trough.

Eastern Hills Country Club area, right? Surrounded by Lake Ray Hubbard, Centerville Rd, Broadway Blvd and Rowlett Rd. They're fast approaching I-30. There seems to be some activity on the opposite end of Garland north of Jupiter Rd & Campbell Rd. as well, according to another member posting here.

They are wiring Country Club now, near Colonel/Marilee. My street on Surrey as well.

I hope to have service just as soon as possible. If they are still laying conduit, what kind of a time frame have other people in Garland had to light up?

6 weeks after the orange conduit was buried in front of my house I was able to place an order.

well, from what I can gather, the higher income areas in Garland *are* seeing FIOS first, so the city may not be done until 2008 after all...still a ways to go from what I can tell.
