Activating Phone 2 portI have Sunrocket, the Innomedia Gizmo, admin access and wish to activate the phone 2 port but have a couple questions.
First I want to understand what activating the 2nd phone port will/not do. It is my understanding that it will allow incoming calls to direct to port 1 or port 2 based on number assignment. I do not believe it will allow me to either accept or receive two phone calls at the same time. I wish it did but I think Sunrocket's SIP server balks at multiple logins from the same account. Yes? No?
Second, I believe this is done through VOIP > User Account. If so, is the authentication ID the same for both ports? Could someone explain what a Hot Phone Number is? The Innomedia Admin Guide was not clear in defining this parameter.
Thanks in advance. If you need to reply by PM that's fine but I wish more of this info were public. I'm not trying to steal anything just customize my service a bit. |

All the "hot phone" does is call a particular number automatically when the line goes off-hook. It's not particularly useful for most people.
I have seen some reports that SR has snagged/warned/disabled people who activated the second line, but I don't know if that's common.
As far as I understand, you WOULD be able to make two calls, but not receive them... After all, by "activating" the second line you ARE doing a "multiple login from the same account". Thus my (uninformed) warning above.

B is right. All calls to signature number will go to your household number. If you register signature number you can make outgoing calls only. If you register household number in two ports you are doing a multiple login. In both instances SR may terminate your account. |

I appreciate everyone's replies.
I really could care less about making or receiving two calls. My real objective is to use my Signature number as a fax line and activate phone port 2 so that incoming faxes go straight to the fax machine and do not ring my main number at all.
I think I'm going to disable provisioning, change the admin password and activate that second port today and see if it doesn't meet my specific fax need.
Again, thanks for all the help. |

None of that will work. Please re-read the above. As noted, all calls to the sig # will STILL ring through only on Line 1. Your best bet may be to forward the signature number somewhere else, whether a POTS line or another VoIP provider's connection. Or just use distinctive ring! -- B |

Read the above posts carefully. All incoming calls to a SunRocket Virtual# (AnyWhere#/Sig#) arrive on Line 1 of any and all of the Gizmos they have supplied (past and present) --- not Line 2. Line 2 may only be used for outgoing calls. That said, your quest to use your Sig# for incoming faxes is quite doable. Sign up for a free Fax number with k7.net (which provides a Seattle WA number) or with FreeDigits.com (which provides an Iowa number). Then just forward your SR Sig# to the free fax number --- and all incoming faxes to your SR Sig# will be directed to the Seattle or Iowa fax number and then be redirected to your registered email address as a viewable and printable file. It works great! |

What he said. As usual, our MD is on the mark. We've been forwarding the sig number to k7.net for over a year and a half and it works great, the wife gets all the faxes as emails and prints what she wants. |

Just go to the web page and forward your signature number to your fax machine number. I did this to be able to use my signature number as a local fax number, and signed up for a free inbound fax number with www.j2.com. The number they give your for free is long distance, but with free forwarding on sunrocket, you can then have a local fax number that comes to your email |

I use my signature number for my fax machine. I use a Distinctive Ring for the signature number and configured the fax machine to pick up only the Distinctive Ring. |
