Is the lowend MacBook good enough?

I'm looking to buy the cheapest MacBook and I'm just trying to figure out if it will be suitable for my needs. I only plan on using it for web surfing, Office suite stuff, etc. I won't be doing any photo/video editing. With that in mind will the lowend MacBook be a good choice? Or should I opt for 1GB of ram?

1GB ram for sure, all others, including video component, are fine for general needs.

Of course, it's a Core 2 Duo you are talking about, the best you can get for any brand. Of course, if you go MacBook Pro, you get higher GHz, but there is no reason for you to go that way because the slowest Core 2 Duo is very, very fast already.

We just bought a mid level MBook. The mid level gives you a faster processor, twice the ram, a bigger HD and a superdrive for 200 bucks more than the entry level. The top of the line only gives you 40g of extra HD space for the same bump, and a choice of colors. Mid level is the best bang IMHO.
