Re: SecureIX removed their firewallsFor the record, we're not using any traffic shaping yet. We had originally planned to offer different speed packages, but nothing has been setup yet. |

Hey SIX, on behalf of all Rogers users I'd like to thank you for this excellent service. I'm using your Usenet and email service only, for now, because I'm not being throttled at the moment but I did test your VPN to be ready for the eventual day Ted comes-a-knockin'. It works great. Just curious, is there a way, for purchase, to by-pass the UL speed being your max DL rate? Or is this just the way VPN works? 100 kB's is going to be a li'l slow for me when used to 760kB's, until Rogers increases the upload speeds. Thanks again! |

SIX,
Can you tell us why when using the vpn, it goes fine for 10 mins or so and then all traffic dies? I'm still connected to the VPN but no traffic is getting through. |

Go to SecureIX's Status page or subscribe to their RSS Feed. This just popped up on my RSS: "We are a server short today and it's causing high loads on the others. During peek times some people may not be able to connect. If it happens to you just try again later. We should have the all the servers back up late Saturday." » mail.secureix.com:8080/b ··· m_12.htm» mail.secureix.com:8080/b ··· /rss.xml |

How does SecureIX pay for their bandwidth? I'm curious how their business model works and where they're buying such presumably cheap bandwidth. |

The problem is I can connect just fine and I get around 100kb/sec for a good ten minutes..then dropped like a rock. No new connections, can't even browse the web. |

I hear ya GoldServe but you should ask at the SecureIX's Blog or email their customer support. It could be a number of things, Router config or other settings. » mail.secureix.com:8080/b ··· general/ |

There are no speed limits up or down currently. The VPN acts like an encrypting proxy server so it makes a longer path for your data to travel. It will slow you down due to added distance your data travels. We are currently routing the VPN traffic out a cheep provider due to the amount (over 220+ mbits currently and growing). When we route out a premium provider I can't tell a difference. We may offer a pay service soon to get routed out a better provider. |

There are some known bugs in the Windows PPTP client software with certain OS's. You might try MS's website. Other than that it could be that rogers added our IP to the traffic shaping and they are killing all traffic to/from us. Others in here should be able to let you know if don't see the same problem- can any rogers users keep a solid connection??? The other option is our VPN servers were hit with a large increase in users and we were a server short yesterday. The server is back up. Try using IP 66.150.105.15 instead of vpn.secureix.com and let us know if the new server has the same results. |

That's interesting SIX, thanks. But we're still curious as to your business model. There is nothing on your site showing how you make revenue. Are you funded by venture capitalists or by yourselves waiting for the model to roll out the pay services? |

Hello, I just got a SecureIX account today. But I have never been able to connect to the server. I tried using both 66.150.105.15 and vpn.secureix.com, neither of these works. I keep getting Error 619. Any idea what goes wrong? Thanks. |

We have some ideas on how to pay the bills, but we were mainly curious about interest in such a service. I could see this growing to millions of users and hundreds of gigabits of bandwidth if let unchecked. |

I'll work for shares in the company. |

Absolutely no problems. It's lovely, in fact, at least for uploading torrents. The only drawback I see now is download speed ... it's noticeably slow when compared to the usual Rogers Extreme which will mean that I'll need to go off vpn from time to time. I hope you can make this a reliable, economically viable service. As long as Rogers doesn't block you, I'll be signing up if your pricing model is reasonable. kastle |

I am having the same problem. I have set up the VPN connection exactly as indicated on the secureix website and the email, but get Error 619 EVERY time I try connecting.
Anyone have a fix for this? SIX? Anyone? |

curls, {mod - please go to the securix website and forum} where you'll find the following}
"Password file problem on .18 server
The latest server wasn't updating it's password file correctly. This resulted in new accounts not being able to log in to the 66.150.105.18 server. It's been fixed." |
