Giving Wave A Try

Hi Everyone!

I finally decided to take the plunge with it being a New Year and all, and give Wave's Internet a try. Even though I had to call the main office twice to make sure they came out yesterday, the service has been speedy so far. I signed up for the 8/1.5 plan, since I was with Speakeasy paying $125 for 6/768. The only advantage with Speakeasy was the static IP, but I'm not running servers anymore. $55 is much more reasonable for my needs now.

Anyone else on here have the fastest plan with the higher upload? Seems like it doesn't really ever get above the 1mb range. Just wondering, as it might save me $10 a month to go back to the 8/768 plan. Thanks and hope everyone on here comes back.

Here is a speedtest on Wave today:

I've gotten above 1mb on upstream speed tests before. I think it tops out around 1.3mb or so. My current speed tests aren't giving me that, though.

I have the 1.5 up and it never gets near that on any speed tests. Its okay and I'm thankful its offered, but have also considered saving a few $ and going back to the 768 upload as its not that much of a difference for what I do. We really need some bigger increases to be truly useful.

Well after testing for a few more days the service overall seems to be much improved over what I saw years ago. Network latency and speeds are decent, and I have never had to totally drop down to something that I can't use.

Looks like I can finally cancel my overpriced Speakeasy account this week. Thanks for all the feed back you guys.

Hey Endo, can you post some tracerts to various servers so I can see them? That 124ms latency to a Seattle server looks odd, though. I also have "overpriced" Speakeasy because I'm a gamer and the cable in Port Orchard used to be unbearable in the evenings. Been thinking about switching back, also. Thanks.

I keep both a Qwest DSL and Wave cable at home. Partially because I need the static IPs for work, and partially because it's a good idea to have a backup Internet connection.

Sorry it took me so long to get back here. I actually finally canceled my Speakeasy service today, and have been with Wave now a few weeks. It does slow down a bit in the evening, but right after 11pm or so it speeds right back up. I haven't had any problems playing any online games, and the latency is decent.
