lblax posted : well i give ! ya ask a simple question a and no one understand the question. for one its not a college system 2 she does not live in a dorm all i wanted to know was about turning on the UPnP feature on win.xp because when we allow her router to brocast as an open system it shows on her pc as an availlable network she clicks on it and there is no problem with the win. firewall everything works.because she choses that net work... when you restrict a router to only allow access to certain erthernet cards mac address and shut off its broadcasting . when she turns on her pc the router and the pc try to automaticly connect and windows firewall must see it as an uninvited program.

yeti34 posted : Does not matter if you turn broadcast on or not, that is not a security measure. You just have to make sure it is locked down with a good passkey and only those two know what it is. Does not make any sense why the it will not allow her to connect to the school network with the XP firewall on. I would think as long as she has her login it should not matter.
