Acquisition could be good...

If Comcast acquires TiVo, I wouldn't mind seeing a rollout of TiVo-like software to Comcast's DVR boxes. I have both a TiVo Series 2, and a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR through Comcast. While the 8300HD is by far the technologically superior box, the SARA software makes me want to pull my hair out. And just this week, it inexplicably failed to record one of my season passes. The TiVo software has just plain worked, and done so gracefully, every day of its life.

(The TiVo box's hardware itself, on the other hand, has continually and repeatedly failed...)

Indeed it is, as an option for an additional monthly fee. If Comcast acquired TiVo, perhaps that fee would be unnecessary.

(More likely it'd just be rolled into an increased DVR cost, I suppose...)
