signmeuptoo94 posted : ensenix: Being impatient with a computer is ALWAYS a mistake, be mature and get the right stuff BEFORE messing with it.

Furthermore: You need to go online to arctic silver's website and read up on how to apply thermal compound, as it sounds like you don't know how to do it correctly, seeing as you asked such a question. No, you DON'T just slap a bunch on, there is a very specific way to apply it! Make sure you use VERY VERY little, as instructed. Avoid the cheap crap, as that stuff has poor service life and WILL lead to the demise of an expensive CPU.

Also, remember: Google is your friend.
--
I don't claim to be a genius. Sure, I used to be one of those dorks, but I lost my IQ, so forgive me my occasional addled mistake! At least I admit to my errors, which are frequent, I am old... God save America!

Gem posted : When you go to buy thermal paste look for Artic Silver. You can get Artic Silver from Newegg.com or from svc.com.

Or you can buy the generic "Silver" from TigerDirect.com.

The Silver compound, IMO, really makes a difference. Just use a very small amount and watch as your temps go down over the next two weeks.
------------------
{edit to condense}
