Does anyone know why?The same thing is happening too often. I think it is happening to me here in Brandon, MS. What can be the reason for these delays? Once you get the service and set your system up properly, it seems to work well according to reports.
But Why is this happening? What can be done? Do we just have to set back and wait? There are people with DSL using my CO that is close to me.
Don't say go to Telocity or earthlink, both say that they don't show me being available to them. I just want my DSL! |

The problem is loop-length. If you are more than 18,000 feet from your Central Office, then the service will be unavailable to you. The only solution at that point is a remote solution; either through a remote dslam or a mini-ram if your phone line works through a digital subscriber line carrier (D/SLC). The remote dslam can support ADSL for 48 subscribers, whereas a mini-ram can only support 8 each. Now the MAIN issue is TIME and MONEY. Because this technology is still so new, it takes time to train personnel to install both the equipment to provide the service as well as to install it in a subscriber's home. The money issue is that there are very few companies who provide the equipment for the service and add to that a world-wide fiber-optic cable shortage and the cost and time delays mount. I hope this has been informative as well as helpful to make your wait a "little" more bearable. |
