[TWC] Speeds seem to be nice upstate!Hey everyone, for some reason, my internet seems fast. Not sure if I got upgraded or not but as you all know I live in Goshen, NY and well....I've been waiting for the 10/1 upgrade to happen. Not sure if it did or not but I do know that my Internet seems faster than it has been lately. I return with a Speed Test in a bit. This is cool. |

OK no upgrade yet but I'll tell you, I think TWC is working on the network very nicely right now as my Internet experience seems awesome! Anyone else having good results on their line (not their speed)? |

Yeah, I'm in your same area, and have seen a nice little uptick the past week or so. Not huge, but good to see the uploads go up as well! |

as long as latency staysa low i am happy even though those higher speeds were suppose to get mite make me happier but again keep the latency low and you will get no complaints from me ... I know you folks have a big job ahead with getting ewverybody up to the new speeds . and PS most of you central new yorkers call you self upstate but anything above Glen falls is the start of the UPSTATE ZONE you folks are central new york ... lol |

Those speeds are sick man. Seriously. If that is your standard, all I can say is wow. That is amazing! I'm so jealous. |

Haha..lets hope they last now And I think its pretty amazing how this probably wont be announced as an "upgrade" Even though usually when I get faster than normal speeds...the rest of the city gets them a bit later. When we went from 3Mbps to 5Mbps...I had the upgrade in December of '04, it rolled out Jan.31 '06 When we went from 5 to 7...a few of us had these speeds weeks prior to the rest of the city catching up..and now Im at 10Mbps..which is a tier thats not even mentioned on their website...so this is not me bragging, Im just trying to show a pattern, that when I notice faster speeds, it shouldnt be long until we all do..and thats why Im guessing 15Mbps will be the new tier...(hopefully) lol PS..I wonder why I notice this in my area..and the other users in Queens do not |

Yeah. I'm happy for you man. If you're on standard tier and paying for standard and are getting those speeds with no FiOS competition then that is really good. I just hope I get those speeds upstate here near Middletown, NY as that's where my local office is and that's where my Internet is coming from. So are you saying that if my original standard speed was 5.0 Mbps down. and 384 Kbps up that my upgrade pattern will be the following?: 5/384 to 7/512 and then to 10/1 or 2? (Something like that?) Please let me know. I want to know when I'll be seeing these speeds if ever. |

OMGZ I JUST MOVED Upstate five miles down the road!
No speed change yet. Got 3 postcards in mail teasing me about it. I'm more a latency type a guy tho, latency is alot better than last year but could be just alittle better - am betting it'll get 100% better soon. |

About the pattern..I am not sure, since you are in a different division of TWC and depending on what they want to roll out it could be different, its just that in my case, this is what I have noticed for NYC, but whats to say when FIOS does come, and then there is no pattern, because they will have to try and match up |

How is the winter treating you up there? For those of you who don't know Saranac Lake is usually the coldest place in upstate NY. Have they built the ice castle yet? The Capitol District is where upstate really starts. lol |

was mild till we got 24+inches and now the cold air is in (late this year) ice castle is STILL up ...here are a few links to this years model as they almost did not build it as mild weather almost did not create the ice thick enough and a few previous years ... the theme this year was THE FABULOUS 50'S, and for some folks that do not know about this event it is a week ; long family time with fireworks and 2 parades 1 big parade and 1 kiddies parade all in the middle of feb . enjoy these links » www.adirondackforum.com/ ··· php?t=25» www.backprint.com/view_e ··· 390&PWD= |

thanks for the links.I wish there was a pic of the castle at night with the lights on. We also received alot of snow from the same storm. I think we got around 17 inches of snow. We are thinking of moving farther north in the next few yrs. Love it up there. |

It's funny, the differing definitions of upstate. The guy less than 50 miles from the city was calling himself upstate, then the guy from Glens Falls was saying how he lives just miles south of "upstate". |
