Embarq rep 20/2 speeds coming end of July August

I talked to a local Embarq rep today and he told me Embarq has been doing a lot of equipment upgrades the last several months and somtime late July early August Embarq would be offering 20/2 residential speeds for the current price of the 5/768. I can't wait.

Agreed! Sounds like BS to me. Guess we'll finally see what the copper plant can handle.

If it'd push the price down of the 3M plan I'm all for it.

I'm rather doubting that 20/2 speeds will be going out...

however, vDSL would be nice: »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VDSL2

But that is just wishful thinking now...

Is this going to be offered for those on ADSL2+?

I am not sure how it will be offered. I just know of trials going on. I do not know if it is ADSL2 or VDSL2. I am sure it will only be offered on a limited basis, only to customers served out of CO's with a large backhaul. If you are on a remote, forget it for now.

what about the 10/1 speed tier? Do you suppose that that will be offered at a remote terminal?

I think you will see some 10/1 on remotes. Again though, those remotes will need to be serviced by a couple DS3's.

Also Fox, i haven't heard from any techs out your way. As for the petition, I have no suggestion, as I have never done one, just have heard of those who have. Not even sure if they work

I would upgrade if it showed up here....

But I have no idea if we will....I'm clueless to what I'm connected to.

Ok, no problem, and thanks for the information; I happen to personally know an Embarq tech out here (though I totally forgot he was one!), so, perhaps I could "bug" him, to see if he knows anything, or could possibly get some information.

Anyway, thanks again.
