2007 World Kayak ChampionshipThis coming week is the 2007 World Freestyle Kayak Championships. Unfortunately it is being held during the week and I wont be able to attend. This event is being held on a different set of rapids then I shot last time. The Ottawa River watershed received little snow this winter. Inflows into Des Joachim (the big dam 100 km upstream pronounced locally as Swisha) were the lowest in 50 years. These guys were practicing before the competition starts up tomorrow. Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT 200mm 1/1250th F5 ISO100

This is just one of those sports that I find amazing. The action is so non-stop and takes so much finesse and fortitude. Thanks for the neat shots. |

Wow!
Since it's fast action, how come you didn't use a higher iso? That's the first thing I would have done - which would have been wrong since you captured the action perfectly with iso 100. |

Awesome shots! It's nice to come back after a brief hiatus and see that you guys (and girls) are still posting some really nice images. |

As you can see the shutter speed was up in the 1/1000 range so I was able to get away with ISO100. If it was to drop below 1/1000 I would have lowered the aperture to F/2.8 and if that didn't bump me back up to 1/1000 then I would have upped the ISO to 200 or higher. I always start out at ISO100 and go from there. |

some excellent action shots, ISO 100 is a good starting point to capture the action that you want, depending on the lens you choose ISO 200 and dropping to F2.8 or 4.0 is another good starting point as well |
