said by bryank:So for the past 2 years, I have had an the same IP number that began with 24.63.xxx.xxx. Then this morning I had no connection on any of my computers or VoIP phones. I rebooted the modem about 4 times before my router received an IP and it came back with a 76.16.xxx.xxx number. Now I know we do not have static IP's and DHCP can assign whatever it wants, but what would cause a total shift in the IP addresses from 24 to 76? Do you think this change is good or bad? (not even sure if that is a valid question to ask)
Comcast has been assigned a block of IP addresses at 76.16.0.0/12. I don't know that they will do with there 24.60.0.0/14 IP addresses; but they have been changing a lot of their customers to newer IP addresses in higher ranges.
It should not be a cause for concern. All publicly routed IP addresses are equally valid on the Internet.
