The maximum distance Verizon servers is 18,000 feet now, which is why I have it after 8 months of excrutiatingly painful dialup. I'm at 16,000 feet as well but my installation was no where near as smooth.
Yes, it's now 18,000 feet. I'm at 16,000. It's definately worth it if you also fall in that range of 3000 feet, I'm still holding at about 708 of the purchased 786
