Sorry you feel that way
Why are you sorry? I feel sorry for sheeple like you who still put up with crappy programming and commercials. 14 million people and counting have rejected terrestrial radio over the past 6 years. No reason to feel sorry for those of us who enjoy hearing more the 20 songs on the same station.

I'm not going to pay for something I can get for free.
And likewise, I'm not going to listen to shit for free when I can get much better content that costs me. I love movies so I pay for HBO, Showtime, Starz and the rest, for commercial free uncensored movies, I will never subject myself to watching movies on TBS or Spike.
quote:
If you want commercial free, don't blame FM for not providing it to you... They need to have commercials to pay for the free service which costs millions per year to run.

I will blame them all I want. I don't want commercials, commercials suck. Terrestrial radio is not about public interest, or music or news or anything about entertaining the listener. It's about advertising dollars. Period. Good thing you don’t pay for AM/FM Radio, a penny to listen would be over charging. For that crap, they’d have to pay me to listen.

Second, look at your damn signature... You're so damn anti-FIOS, perhaps you just have vices against certain companies for no reasons?

Looks like you're a satellite/Time Warner fanboy...

I'm so damn anti fios eh.

I have no idea how the hell this relates to SDARS and a future failed merger between XM and Sirius, but yes, I do have my own reasons for disliking Verizon, and no Fios is not available in my area, and yes, I am a very happy TW subscriber. I’m a Time Warner Cable Fanboy, an XM Fanboy and a Sirius Fanboy.

I would love to be able to work for one of those three companies, just like how you work for Clear Channel.
People are getting charged for everything nowadays.. If you like being charged for radio, go right ahead.. I'm not against the idea of satellite radio, but people like yourself who think that AM/FM need to die are just fools... Don't force me to pay for something I don't want..

Commercials suck, I agree.. But guess what!!!! YOU'RE NOT PAYING A DAMN CENT... So how are these radio stations supposed to support themselves? So Sirius or XM don't care about the bottom line either? Get real.... A business is just that A DAMN BUSINESS... There job is to seperate you from your hard earned dollar... It's as simple as that. Whether we're talking about the local pizzeria or Microsoft, it's the same fucking deal..

BTW: I don't work for Clear Channel and I rarely listen to FM radio outside of my car... I prefer to get my music free off the internet. FREE is the word....

It's interesting that it's said there aren't any commercials on Sat radio... I know for a fact there are commercials on those services. Ever listen to any of the talk or sports channels? There are a LOT of ads. I had a coworker that played his radio all day and I'd swear there were more commercials than actual content.

Also, I want to see Sat radio beat my local talk channel in bringing me local news/events/personalities along with my traffic report every 15 minutes or so. Last I knew, I'd have to flip between channels on this 'wonderful' subscriber service to get the information/entertainment that fits me.

Reread my posts, and take a look at XM and Sirius’ literature. Nowhere do I or they say 100% commercial free period. It’s 100% commercial free music. The Talk, Entertainment, Sports and Comedy stations have always been fair game for commercials, and the majority of talk content is outsourced so XM and Sirius have no control of the channel being commercial free or not. 90% of my satellite radio listening is music, Opie & Anthony, NHL Home Ice and Rusty Humpheries make up the rest

I don't want satellite radio beat local talk. Local stuff sucks. I don't want nor need local information. I really don't care how many inches of snow we'll see what how corrupt the county legislator is.

And people should pay for more. Nothing is free, nothing should be free, and if something is marketed as free, it's junk, since no one would be willing to opening pay for it. If AM/FM die, why would you be forced to pay for anything you don't want. According to some on here, there's all this great competition, check that out.

I don't give a damn how they support themselves, that's for them to worry about, not me, terrestrial radio gets a lot of breaks as it is. They don’ give me want and I’m willing to pay for it, fuck them.

A business is a business, the goal is to make money I agree. I fully support the idea of capitalism and big business. But satellite radio cares more for its listeners and tries to appease them because they are the main source of income, where as dinosaur radio companies just have to appeal to advertisers which just have to appeal to certain demos.

XM and Sirius could double their rates, and I’d pay whatever it costs. I upgrade my plug and play receivers everytime a new one comes out. I have over $1K invester in various receivers and kits, most of which are no longer used. I also purchased an $800 Sony Home Theater Receiver since it has a built in XM Tuner and can do the XMHD decoding.

Satellite Radio is my life. And it is my job to spead the good word of Fr. Lee and Pastor Mel. Do I hear an A-men! Brothers and sisters, I have taken it upon my self to destroy satans work (AM/FM Radio) and bring suffering to an end. I promote the best thing since sliced bread, every where I go.

Jealous I have a passion for the best form of audio entertainment the planet has ever seen? I also have an XM TShirt and Sirius hat I wear quite frequently and if I happen to be out and about and see one of the dinosaur stations doing a remote or handing out bumper stickers, I will stop and walk around for a few minutes pimping real radio, not radio where songs are just filler for ads.
