Don't you have to return the Bell modem?

You can use that modem, it is compatible, providing the modem itself still works there should not be a problem.

A number of people seem to be keeping their old Bell modems. I assume Bell does not follow up for the returns!

Or Bell could just be SLOW and those people will get a surprise one day!

It's pretty typical for Bell to forget stuff.. of course it's pretty typical of them to just bill you two years later out of the blue...

In my experiences, I've seen them leave a LOT of equipment especially in businesses including routers, firewalls, key systems and all kinds of other expensive stuff...

Be aware that while the 5360 will work, if you have a marginal line where you are far from a CO/Remote, you may not get very good speed. Newer modems such as the SpeedTouch 516 and the 2Wire 2700HG seem to handle marginal lines much better.

I believe the SS5360 uses the same chipset as the old Alcatel SpeedTouch Home, I believe the chipset was Alcatel Dynamite. It's quite old, and modems with newer chipsets tend to perform better under bad line conditions.
