mashtun posted : Ok, I said it before and was kinda blown off, but have you checked the 5V rail readout in bios? Epox has a known problem with Enermax power supplies (that's why I asked in the first place). I've personally had problems with an Epox board (8K7A) and low 5V with post problems the same as yours. It WAS the power supply.

I haven't had an opportunity to play with an Athlon XP, but I have heard they are multiplier locked. Can you lower the multiplier to 10 or less(133 FSB) then step up and see if it posts? Might be a way to determine if the problem is power related.

You have the recent N+ bios chip and it posts at 100, so I would think it's seated properly.

Changing the memory didn't fix the problem. The review used the same processor that you are using.

Another thing I noticed was that the BIOS chip is seated in a PLCC socket. It is possible that it is not seated all the way down into the socket. It probably came a long distance before it was put in your hands. That might be worth investigating if you think the BIOS chip is faulty.

[text was edited by author 2001-11-28 19:40:44]
