No luck on config for VT BYOD & Innomedia 6328

I followed the instructions by walletless to the nose and have been unsuccessful at getting my gizmo to connect to VT's servers. I HAVE successfully configured X-Lite, so my login & password information are correct. All the port forwarding and location of the gizmo on the network are the same as when I was with SR. I even tried moving the gizmo directly behind the dsl modem to see if that would make a difference. It did not. Does anyone have any other ideas? Wondering if I should go out any buy a new ATA.

Did you remember to turn off provisioning? I've got the innomedia device and I'm working like a champ.

Can you post your config file?

I stumbled through a few guides out there, but like they say, a picture is worth a 1000 words....

Yup! All that is set per your instructions. I re-did it again and rebooted just to make sure. Next, I'm going to try to move the innomedia directly behind the DSL modem again and see if that does anything.

Yup, I've tried NY, SF, SJ, Houston, and Chicago. The funny thing is that I'm able to register on the VT network with X-Lite, a SIP softphone. It just occurred to me that having X-Lite open might have been preventing my gizmo from connecting to the network, so I closed out of X-Lite and re-booted the innomedia. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to have any effect on establishing a VOIP light on the innomedia.

Anyone know of a way to 'force initiation' of a logon to viatalk's servers with the innomedia -- if that's even the appropriate action necessary?

This worked for me:
Instead of manually entering the Line 1 provisioning password -copy/paste from the Softphone configuration screen.

Good idea Cajun -- what softphone did you use?

i think the softphone will cause it not to register..... turn it off, then power off the Gizmo, then on...... don't just reboot it, physically remove the power then plug it back in... should work for ya......

After quitting my softphone, unplugging the gizmo and letting it all sit for about 30 minutes 'unplugged' and the rebooting everything (DSL modem, router, gizmo...) it's still not registering. Should it display registration 'attempts' in the messages or syslog screen? Here's some additional data from my Information screens.

Odd because the phone # and pwd work for the softphone.
I'll call VT. thanks for everyone's help and ideas. If you have any more, I'm eager to hear them.

Telnet in to the ATA.

Use the command Ms and enable STUN. Find one near you (prolly stun.xten.com will give you good ping.)

The inno might be having a problem transversing NAT to VT.

I talked to Viatalk as they have not shipped my device. I was asking them if BYOD would work with innomedia. They indicated
unless they setup the account as BYOD it will not work. They may provide the phone#, but until they test it with their device you are not allowed to connect using Softphone or BYOD device.

OP, you probably don't need to be told this, but, since it happened to me, I'll pass it along.

Be sure to use the password from the softphone screen on the VT support page and NOT the password they sent you to access your account.

I got my Innomedia to work just fine between the time I originally ordered and when my VT supplied AT arrived...

Jay-

Thanks for your reply. I have been using the l/p info on the VT support screen rather than what was included in the email, but I do appreciate you bringing that up.

The aspect that makes me think it's a device problem is because I *can* connect and dial in/out with VT using my softphone, but I can't register using my gizmo (yes, I quit out of my softphone as not to cause a conflict).

Very strange. I'll post any resolution the VT techs are able to provide.

Thanks again for everyone's reply thus far.

Finally got around to telnetting into my Gizmo! It is trying but is unable to access VT's server. This is the report displayed on my telnet screen:

I'm going to try some other server locations, but it looks like I need to add nameservers to my router (an airport extreme base station) so that the inno box can look them up -- yes/no?

OK so it looks like you may not have DNS configured.

Use telnet - log in.

Issue the Mn command.
4. is for DNS server one. Use 64.151. 85. 68
5. is for DNS server two. Use your.router.addy.here

Your ATA should then be able to resolve the SIP server name.
