Unlike ATT/Verizon, Google's success comes from winning in market competition. People choose to use Google. People are forced to use ATT and Verizon. All Google has is their reputation. They need to play the game, but with higher standards.

I agree. If Google starts bankrolling millions as ATT / VZ then they will just follow their steps as they will want to guarantee some return on the millions spent in lobbying.
