ive held out as long as i can, but this is the last straw...

Well, i assumed that with so many people complaining here, it was just rushed folks using the power of the internet to whine, and if this many are complaining about viatalk, there must be that many more people that are happy with their service.

well. heres one to laugh at.
i ordered service last tuesday, the 24th. i called friday(3 days into the order) was on hold for 45 mins (caller 45), and got brushed off with a 'give us 5 days'.

so, i call back this past tuesday, the 31st. 5 full business days. on hold for 45 mins (caller 25), call gets disconnected. try again, caller 40something, so i give up for that night.

i tried again last night (7 full business days) once i finally get through (number 21, but a 2 hour wait) a woman informs me that there is no update yet. i asked if i can speed things up by changing to a byod plan. she said sure, transfers me to billing. caller number 65!! i fell asleep waiting for the phone to connect, woke up with another 1.5 hours on my phone, and no answer. hung up again.

so, for giggles, i called at exactly 8am this morning. went to billing, was caller 21. drove from CT, 2 hours in rush hour, to NYC. ready for the kicker? when i hung up b/c i couldnt get through, i didnt go lower than number 21.. i INCREASED to #26!!!!!

(you have to see my cell phone call logs for this number. unreal)

btw, this doesnt include the full 9 hours i stayed waiting for an online rep to help me during work one day. thought that was cute too. no one ever helped me online either. heh.

anndddddd... drumroll please!

i get an email tonight - WE CANT PROVIDE YOU WITH SERVICE! apparently, they have no more numbers left in my area.. so, i am more than welcome to RESTART THE PROCESS again and request a new number.

thats rich.

well, time for another provider. im thinking nuvio or vonage. their loss, esp since i could have offered them a business plan with fax number.

If you have a computer running all the time like I do, I would suggest trying magicJack and GrandCentral if you are looking for a business line and don't care about keeping your number.

i thought about it, and i have a grandcentral number, but i am just tired of switching numbers.. i mostly use my cell number anyway.

BTW, my sunrocket phone worked to call the vonage 800 number, (it hasnt worked all week) and its never been more clear!! works well with no customers!

im happy to be back to vonage. a real company..

how is magicjack? work well for you? ever try a fax on it?

Someone more knowledgeable will probably answer. My question is run out of numbers? Are you porting?

I would think Level3 would just provide more numbers. Maybe there is a catch with Level3 on temp numbers if you are porting.

I am using GrandCentral as my new main number now. I forward my GrandCentral number to my MagicJack and cell phone. Never came close to using all my cell minutes before, now just using it as backup for MagicJack. Have not needed the backup as MJ has been perfect so far. Can't comment on fax on MJ as I have not needed it. My computer ran all the time in the past and now it is being put to good use. Leaving your computer on all the time is not much different than having a DVR with it's hard drive on all the time. All I can say is change is good even if it means giving up your old number.

i ported, already. vonage is in the process of transferring, i have a new/temp number, and the account works. if i could hijack my sr gizmo i would be up now. ill look into it.. if not, i should have the new adapter by tuesday.

BTW, i typed that original thread while setting up my account with vonage. it took 24mins to do everything, and im done.

Sort of off topic here in the ViaTalk forum but this MagicJack sounds very interesting. I've been reading about it in the Voip Tech Chat forum. Unfortunately I no longer have always on computers in my home. Well, a laptop or two is on most of the time but since they are portable it is not the best fit for MagicJack. But for a second MagicJack had me thinking about getting an inexpensive box just to leave running all the time for MagicJack. Doubt I will do it, but MagicJack does have my attention.
