[AZ] Power Boost -DSL reports new Flash speed test wont run on PAttn: Mike Petty ¡V VP CBS (VOICE AND DATA) PHX AZ We have COX business HIS, we are and have had 7-8 Meg DN and 768 UP for many years. We even re-sell it now for Cox...Cox has been flooding the air waives about this new "Power Boost" service coming to COX, It depicts a bunch of young people that a guess are in the Top Secret Power Boost test room, They put on these ridiculous goggles and say "Hit it Johnson" some kid troughs a huge rocker switch and this ridiculous: ¡§orb" spins faster and expands, The other person says WOW THIS IS GOING TO BLOW PEOPLES MINDS....IT ON IN PHX and it is BAD. As I said above the Flash vs. of DSL Reports speed test will not even work,,, It jumps up to &,8 Meg in a few sec and then slowly drops to below under 100k, takes 5-6 min to do this, Same with up,, Just for kicks we tried the old Java Test and it works fine, I would guess due to it sending small divided chunks of data vs. a larger on shot like on the Flash test, All I know is now when I need to down load a 250Meg file WE ARE HURTING! If you have Cox try it and let me know if it the same different you? Note: THEY HAVE TO SWAP OUT EVERY TAP IN ORDER TO DO THIS, WE ARE DOWNTOWN AND BUSTED THEM IN OUR ALLEY THAT¡¦S WHEN I GOT THE SKINNY ON THIS FROM THE TECH¡K. BTW: They gave us no heads up on tap switch, since it only should take a few min ,, They decided not to tell anyone of the planned outages¡K.¡KWell we had a bad one and had to wait for 4 hrs on Monday morning for thee to go to shop and get good tap. and they sent back a Sub-Contractor who could not even find our tap box¡K. Sad days here in PHX ¼
One of our Server Admins said jokingly "Hey well just ask Microsoft, Samsung, Mitel, Toshiba, ect to please make our needed software downloads available to us, That way we can get our data at the same speed" IS THIS HOW IT'S GOING TO STAY??? THX, Mr.B |

Re: [AZ] Power Boost -DSL reports new Flash speed test wont runIs powerboost even AVAILABLE on the business service? If you're on a loaded node don't worry, you'll never get a powerboost[like me]. |

I have to agree with AZWkdcars. That was difficult to understand without reading it three times. Powerboost is not doing anything like being described. I think the OP is putting 1 and 1 together and coming up with 3. |

said by craig70130:Look at the time of the post and it will tell you all you need to know. 1 am is a bit early to be getting home from the bar, I'm at a loss for explanations Getting poor results purely on a flash test (Best I could gather from the OP) has no real meaning, it could be as simple as flash on your machine not playing well. For the Phoenix market, I use the Fort Worth (Sprint) flash-based test server and regularly get 20+Mbps. » nitro.ucsc.edu/ has given me pretty consistent results as far as web100 servers go. To address the outage mentioned in the OP: Do you have a SLA with Cox (Does CBS even offer them?)? If existant, did Cox break that SLA? Yes, it's rude for maintenance to be done without notification; but, cable networks aren't exactly known for their reliability. |
