Re: Missouri 417 Area Code Portability etal...Hi, No, I didn't enter it on Vonage's website because the only thing I can find on there is a search of my area code and 3 number prefix. I can't find anywhere to just enter the entire phone number. |

Click on the "Sign Up" on the gray bar near the top. On the next page, pick any plan (I picked a residential plan on the left). Then on the next page, click in the keep my existing service radio button, and then enter in your phone number. Once you click "Continue" you'll either get a congratulations message, or a sorry you're out of luck message. |

Yea, unless I want a new number, which I don't but in a way, that might not be bad.
Are Vonage numbers listed in the phone book? |

Hmmm, ok. Not sure if that is good or bad. LOL. What about Packet 8? |

Most VOIP providers don't list customer numbers in the directory. I'm pretty sure that Packet 8 does not. |

AT&T Callvantage will list you in the directory. The small companies probably not.
If you don't want to lose your current phone number, you have a couple of choices:
Do nothing. Keep your POTS line and check to see if your telephone company has an unlimited plan for you to use.
Sign up with a VOIP company and use their number. Also keep your POTS line, but downgrade to the most basic of service.
You can also try porting your POTS line to your cellphone. That's often possible, but you need to contact your cellphone company to see if they offer it for your rate center. |
