I've never looked at the Live-CD, but my understanding is that it is set up to run a DHCP server, so under normal circumstances, your adapter should have been assigned an IP. I'll make a wild guess here, but I suspect that your laptop may have an ethernet interface that isn't supported by the drivers on the CD. My suggestion is that you try unlocking with the Live-CD, using a different PC.

Yes, the Internet LED is solid (the left most (power) LED is blinking) but I still get invalid password message.

Then I changed the admin password. This was done yesterday. I was able to access the Line1 and Line2 SIP details and change them. But when I started the device today, I no longer am able to access the page. The admin page gives the forbidden error. Looks like the device is locked again. How do I go about now since I changed my admin password. The original code 79309925# is not working anymore? Would the factory reset help? If so should I try 877778# or 73738#? I tried the first one but of now use. The second one says a Full Factory Reset, so I was afraid it might brick the device, so haven't tried it.

For the second one, I have never unlocked it and the admin password should have been the default one. But trying to use the 79309925# is not working. When both the devices are not accepting the password, I even wondered it has got to do with my phone.

Another question was if without unlocking and removing the provisioning, if I connect the device to the internet, would it by any chance brick the device?

Would appreciate any help. I wanted to try few things on the device like full factory reset but was afraid if that would brick the device.

Not to be mean, but this *is* the Sunrocket forum, and this thread is also saying Sunrocket.

If you want to ask about the 2102 for another provider then I would post that request or question on the main voip forum. But I can tell you that itp4you hasn't been discussed. Post it anyway in case someone knows something...

The device will trust a set of certificate authorities. This is done by including this trust into the firmware. To be able to setup a server that the device will trust as prov.sipura.net you need a certificate signed by one of these authorities that the device trusts. That is impossible without breaking some law.

Now the only other option is to add your own authority to the list of trust on the device. For this to work, you need to know how to create your own firmware file and you need to be able to update the firmeware on the device. Creating your own firmware file is probably possible. I know people on this forum who tried and probably succeeded. However, I am not aware of any way to change the firmware on the device without first unlocking it.

I was thinking a bit of the opposite. Use the certificate in the 2102 to make prov.sipura.net think *you* are a 2102 and trick it into giving you the file.

But actually, you can get the file yourself without all that. Substitute your info, this is the actual provisioning string:

This initial file from Sipra is made with the SPC program. If you can decode SPC files, it is encoded using the MAC option.

BTW - Sunrocket isn't the only provider to do this. There are others on the block that get their initial config file this way - exact same way.

My .cfg is still on the sipura website.
If I plug it in will it eventually load it even this late in the game?

There is no difference between the "manual method" and the liveCD method. The methods described in this thread will only unlock a sunrocket customized device. This is done by spoofing the sunrocket server and feeding the device a configuration file with a known admin password.

Sipura/Linksys/Cisco are much smarter than sunrocket and there is no way to spoof their server. A virgin device contacts prov.sipura.net to get its configuration via https. So you need SSL certificate signed by CISCO CA to spoof their server.

I think you're mistaken. A 2102 which was never connected to the net has no way of being unlocked by the LiveCD because it must first get an initial download from Sipura, then it attempts to go to sunrockekt's server to get its' custom file (which is what the Live CD spoofs).

I'm not aware of any reports of anyone with a Virgin 2102 that has been able to grab their unique initial config file from Sipura as Sipura seems to take them down.

So, you must've connected your 2102 to the net at least once, at some point in time, AND your Sipura config file (at that time) must've been available.

Mine was NOT available by the time I wanted to connect it to the net, so that is a show-stopper.

I am trying to unlock my sunrocket 2102-R. I can log in as a user, but to unlock it I need to log-in as admin. Can someone please post step-by-step instructions (for windows pc - don't have linux) for us non-technical people. Your help is appreciated.
