Flaky line?

Click for full size
So I've been on TEksavvy for a few months and I've been trying to get my speed up. I've got a ST 516v6 currently running firmware 5.4.0.14.0 running in bridge mode
Sometimes I'll get a downstream sync of 2300 or so and it will stay that way for a day or so. Then the line will go down (usually shows something like - down (line in configures mode)) - for anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. Other times (like now) I'll get a crappy 800 or even 400k.
I've split out the modem and the phone lines at the demarc and run new cat5e to the modem and to my pc. Do I need to call Bell to see if there is anything wrong with the line to my house or can Teksavvy look into this?

teksavvy is your ISP, so you call them and they deal with Bell.

so you've run a dedicated line from the demarc to the modem? do you have the filter for the other phones done there too? (this is what i have done and works great, if done right). or at each phone?

your line stats don't look good. do everything u can to try and rule out your internal wiring and equipment (like you already started i see).

my bet, bell will put you on interleave right off the bat.

Yeah, I've got the filter at the demarc where it goes to the phone lines. This weekend I plane to plug the modem in at the demarc jack and run run a cable directly to the pc from there (my pc is in the basement anyway so it's a short run. That should rule out everything internal. I'm hoping they can do something to speed me up. I'm ok living with 2mb if that's the best they can do, but the flakiness is driving me nuts!

Do you have centralized filtering at the demarcation point?

Your attenuation is high and your SNR is barely acceptable...

...might want to have TekkSavy put in a service call, to see if Bell can clean up your line..

Thomson SpeedTouch 546v6 - BroadCom
Hi MaxMonty,

Well, even at that lets not give up all hopes yet:

Thomson's SpeedTouch isn't the only device around;
the 2Wires, for example, have a pretty good press.
