Re: what is on the agenda for comcast on 2008

All I know is that my brother, who has DTV will be watching Tin Man tonight on the Sci-Fi channel in HD while I'll be stuck watching it in SD on Comcast.

"who the heck cares about 40-60 more HD channels?" myself, and any other sane individual.
Sorry, Wes, but you're a small minority.

And people are surely not insane because they have different values than you do.
said by WesMantooth :

You may find them worthless, but speaking for myself..I'd rather have the option of having them instead of being stuck in our current state: far fewer HD choices and higher prices.
I respect your preference, but I look at the actual effect, and until I'm actually watching a program in SD, the fact that I don't have a specific HD channel affects me not at all. Given that most people aren't even watching HD*, as I mentioned before, you're a small minority.

______
* Even if they have HDTVs!!!
Actually I think that for those of us who have HDTVs that YOU are the one in a small minority. I'm not sure why you purchased your HDTV, but I got mine the watch HD programing.
Oh, and to play my XBox 360

The bottom line is that right now, DirecTV customers have the ability to watch most any HD prgram by any major network.
Both CW and PBS, which DirecTV will not provide me, are more popular than any of the HD channels that DirecTV provides that my Comcast service does not provide.
said by PaulieORF:

... what you can say is that they are providing a lot of HD channels that aren't broadcasting much if any HD material right now. This will catch up over time, but so will Comcast's agreements to carry these channels.
That's really a keen point: As a matter of fact, I see as much criticism of Comcast for the HD channels it has added ("A&E HD has practically no HD!!!" -- true or not, that's what some people complain about).

What do I have to do with it? I haven't really said what my personal preference is; I've just been pointing out that your perspective is a small minority opinion. I suspect my perspective is much closer to yours than it is to the vast majority of folks, about whom I've been referring.

Have you read the articles I was alluding to, published over the last couple of weeks? I think you need to bring yourself up to date on those. A lot of folks with HDTVs aren't even watching all that much HD. And what's more: They don't even realize it.

the ignorance of the general public is a poor excuse for comcast's lack of HD.

That's silly. Just because people have different values doesn't make them ignorant. Do you enjoy the ballet and the opera? Do you practice yoga? How many newspapers and news magazines do you read per day? If you "fail to live up to" these expectations I've capriciously placed on you, does that mean you're ignorant, inadequate, or inconsequential? No. People have different values.

I guess people who still can barely afford(at least without making some huge sacrifice) to buy HDTVs are ignorant also.

Indeed! It's silly to apply such judgments on others.

I hate how Comcast loves to price hike us after being switched from Time Warner. Some of these things I could care less for I just want a lower rate.
